To Reach Your Goal-----You Must Start

A 1000 mile journey starts with that first step.

It is hard to fail; but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

quote by Theodore Roosevelt

Sometimes we over-think or over-analyze a situation-----you need to take ACTION--just a small step is all you need----that in turn will empower you.

If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right,

you'll probably never do much of anything.

quote by Win Borden---

Waiting to get things perfect before starting can turn into procrastination. Taking baby steps will give you the momentum {empowerment}you need to reach your goal.

A baby learns to crawl before he walks....take that first step. The “old you” has to change in order to head in your new direction, towards your goals.

You have to take inventory, are you friends & acquaintances headed in your direction or -are they holding you back from your self—improvement {self-empowerment} journey?

Only you can answer this question Many times you will get criticism and sometimes even hostility when you make a choice to reach for your goals.

There are some people who are afraid of change so they would rather stay right where they are (their safe zone) even if it a place with no future.

These people prefer to blame circumstances, and/or other people for their lack of change, instead of taking personal responsibility and taking action.

Many people are terrified of failure because they see that as the end.

But successful people see failure as "experience" -- they take what they have learned and use it to help them reach their goal.

You never fail when you learn something.

Until tomorrow, keep walking

Create Goals That Inspire You

That's right you must create goals that inspire you, or you will never be motivated enough to deal with the changes (sometimes sacrifices) you must make to reach your goals.

But first let us get the definition of a "goal" = the end (an aim or purpose) towards which effort is directed.

In addition, I want to add that a "goal" must have a completion date, and there must be a way to measure your progress towards that goal {an empowering step}.

In contrast, dreams and wishes are just statements of things you would like to have or see happened.

Think about the goals you want to accomplish write them down, date them and write down as much detail as possible. You do not want a goal that is generalized -- it must be specific.

Don’t over – think what needs doing, get up & take action. This step (taking action)is the key to success.

Don’t let doubts, worries nor fears paralyze you, instead move forward with determined action ------ knowing that no matter the outcome ----- you will learn from your experience.

If you have been following my Blogs, you will know by now that I have been recommending small steps to get you started.

Baby steps, if you will. This way you gradually overcome your fears.

Small action steps build up your confidence and provide small measures of success as you move forward.

BUT You will note that I always ask you to keep walking.

It is important to keep the momentum going in a positive direction.

Note There are great Motivators out there such as Tony Robbins who teach that it is best to take "massive action" in order to change your life (reach your goals)-- and his methods make a lot of sense for many people.

If you are one of those people who is capable of "taking massive action" than go for it.

If however, you are not(for whatever reason) do not be discouraged, you can still make major changes to your life and reach your goals if you commit to a course of action and stick with it.

You see by taking one step after another (building blocks)you build your confidence and empower yourself as you head towards your goals.

Please take note of what I have often repeated This is not a race, it is a journey.

Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day;

while failure is simply a few errors in judgment, repeated every day.

It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines

and our judgments that leads us to either

fortune or failure.

quote by Jim Rohn

Life is full of choices, and the choices you make today will become your tomorrows.

If you plan (set goals) than the choices you make can be targeted towards helping you reach those goals {empowering you}.

If you don't set goals than you are like a ship without a rudder, just going where the currents take you --- it is in your hands to decide.

Until tomorrow, keep walking

Freedom Has A Price -- Our Vets

Today here in the U.S. we celebrate and salute our Veterans; the men and women who have served in our armed forces.

We send our thanks and our prayers to everyone of them.

And ask that you consider making a donation to one of the many Veteran organizations that work so hard to insure that our Vets receive the care they deserve ( such as DAV, VFW etc)

Remember to be understanding and compassionate with our Vets, because for most the war does not end when they return back home.

The experiences they encountered, the pain they endured, and the unforgettable images that will continue to haunt them for a lifetime -- are not easily understood by those who have not experienced the horrendous effects of war.

The war does not end when you come home.

It lives on in memories of your fellow soldiers, sailors,

airmen and Marines who gave their lives.

It endures in the wound that is slow to heal,

the disability that isn't going away;

the dream that wakes you at night,

or the stiffening in your spine when a car backfires

down the street.

Barack Obama Speech, Feb. 27, 2009

My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you;

ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you,

but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address Jan. 20, 1961

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill,

That we shall pay any price, bear any burden,

meet any hardship, Support any friend,

oppose any foe in order to assure

the survival and the success of liberty.

John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address, Jan. 20, 1961

Making Your Dream Come True

Dreaming starts the process, but unless you take action nothing will change.

There are those of us who are always about to live.

We are waiting until things change,

until there is more time, until we are less tired,

until we get a promotion, until we settle down

-- until, until, until.

It always seems as if there is some major event

that must occur in our lives before we begin living.

quote by George Sheehan

Does the above quote describe you? What are you going to do about it? You get to decide.

Do you need more facts to get you started? Read some more of our past blogs to help you take the action you need to take Get More Facts

Your future will be determined by the actions you take today.

You have the power to change your life {to empower yourself} -- but only if you chose to do so.

November 13, 2009

Yesterday we talked about taking action to make your dreams come true. The action you take {and the first thing that should change is you} should be directed at you.

Some of the things that may need to change are: your focus, your attitude, your beliefs, your friends, your habits.

Good (positive) habits must replace bad (negative) habits.

The process of reaching your goals starts by analyzing your present situation, creating your road map (your written goals) and taking the necessary action.

You control your state of being ---- please go back and re-read our blog archives if you need any clarification on what I am speaking of.

If you read our blogs starting in July, you will see the step-by-step discussions we have had on all the forces that impact your decision making, and which ultimately impact your goals.

The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.

quote by Vince Lombardi

Often times people attempt to change their circumstances by trying to change other people -- when they should be concentrating on changing themselves.

Once you take this step -- you have empowered yourself.

Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of you doing it.

The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.

quote by Earl Nightingale

You can accomplish any goal that you set for yourself as long as you are willing to put the effort required and make the changes needed to reach that goal.

Your Desire To Change Must Be Greater Than Your Fear

Don't let life's setbacks keep you down. Focus on what is possible, not on the setbacks.

Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something

stand in the way of you doing it.

quote by Earl Nightingale

Earl had it right. Often time we are our own worst enemy.

Because we make a list in our mind as to why we can’t do something.

1. Don’t have the time.

2. Don’t have the money.

3. Don’t know how.

4. I’m too old.

5. I’m afraid of failure

6. I’ll never change.

7. etc..etc..etc..

And the list goes on. So how do you start?

Change your focus- look at the possibilities---focus on what you do want---chart a course to get there.

Yes you do need a map if you don’t know where you are going. That road map is here. Start by filling your mind with positive thoughts.

Empower yourself with the wisdom of people who have been through tough times.

Stop-Look & Listen.

Note Remember to guard what you allow to grow in your mind, choose your friends wisely, be careful who you ask for advice.

And please remember to smile as you start your journey.

Get excited.
