What Really Matters To You?

What really matters to you? Simple enough question, yet sometimes it can be difficult to answer.

Think about it before you answer---what is really important to you?

What are you doing about it?—Are you spending enough time on what really matters to you {empowering yourself}-----or are you so busy with other things that what really matters takes a back seat?

Life can seem to be on auto-pilot—where you go through the motions in your daily tasks—losing track of time --waiting until tomorrow to start.

There are those of us who are always about to live.

We are waiting until things change,

until there is more time, until we are less tired,

until we get a promotion, until we settle down

-- until, until, until.

It always seems as if there is some major event

that must occur in our lives before we begin living.

quote by George Sheehan

Life does not consist in thinking,

it consists in acting.

Quote by Woodrow Wilson, 1912

Look inward decide what really matters to you & re-set your priorities. The days, months, and years will pass very quickly

-- so do not wait any longer --- decide what ready matters to you and go for it {empower yourself - set your goals}.

The chains of habit are too light to be felt

Until they are too heavy to be broken.

quote by Warren Buffett

If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right,

you'll probably never do much of anything.

quote by Win Borden

So -- What really matters to you?

Your Attitude Can Make The Difference

What is your attitude? How do you see things and how do you act (towards people, towards problems, towards life)?

If you think it does not matter -- think again.

Your attitude makes the difference between success and failure (between a joyful empowered life and a joyless life).

Do you see everyone else as the problem? If only they would change? Change starts with you, Look inward.

Stop complaining about everybody else and take a good look at yourself. Stop looking for faults (problems -dis-empowering) -- start looking for the good {solutions --empowering}.

One of the most important steps that you need to take on your self-improvement journey is to recognize that change starts with you. This is a very important empowering step.

In our previous blogs we have discussed the changes that need to be made, take the time to read & re-read all the previous blogs

You will better understand the step-by-step process necessary to change your life.

You Are What You Think

We have talked about this issue before in our previous blogs, but you know what we say -- "good things need repeating."

You can review previous blogs by visiting our Blogs Archives Page -----ok back to our present topic.

What thoughts are you allowing to grow in your mind? Imagine that your thoughts are "seeds" --when you deposit them in your mind, they take root & grow.

The more you think about them (feed them) the more they will grow.

For example fear --the more you think about something you are afraid to do, the more reasons you find to justify your fear.

So take inventory of what goes into your mind, start to feed only the positive empowering thoughts

One way to control what goes into your mind is to be selective on:

1. what your read

2. what you listen to

3. what you watch

4. who you keep company with

Remember that your senses are constantly absorbing sights, sounds, smells --these things are processed by your mind and stored somewhere in your brain.

Often times you are not aware of these activities because it is done subconsciously. Be selective - try your best to insure that everything you absorb will empower you.

Guard Your Focus --It's That Important

Today I want to re-emphasize the importance of guarding what you FOCUS ON.

**Your focus will determine your “state of being”—in other words –how you feel.

AND—how you feel will determine how you see your day and the action you take. **

This is the KEY for those of you who are still not sure--- Stop focusing on reasons why you can’t---------focus on what you can do (focus on your goals)-- this empowers you.

NOTE ---by focusing on what you can do, and what you want to do (your goals) enables your mind to seek solutions {which empowers You}

if you ask you mind for reasons "why you can't do something" -- your mind will provide the reasons.

However, if you ask your mind "how do I reach my goal, what steps do I take" ---your mind will also provide answers for you.

We spent a lot of time discussing –personal chances that each person has to make in order to move forward.

You have to change your old way of thinking—Start To Believe -- Start to focus on possibilities.

That is your start.

NOTE—You have to protect what goes into your mind—remember that your thoughts create your (mood) or “state of being”—- -DON’T let negative people’s comments get a foothold in your mind and create doubt.

Once again I want to remind you of the importance of filling your mind with positive things. That’s why I am such a big proponent or reading.

I have selected a variety of books that will motivate & inspire you –---Get your book here If you don’t have the money to purchase a book –go to your local library—look in the section –“personal growth”—or just ask the Librarian to assist you.

Get a book that you can carry with you & that is easy to read—I find that these are the most rewarding.

The process for change that I have outline for you over the past few weeks-- for reaching your goal-- is broken up into small steps.

Follow these small steps & you will reach your goals. It is all about "you" -- decide to change and take action

Until tomorrow, keep walking

Over Come Your Fears

Your fears have a way of creeping into the forefront of your mind and limiting what you do. And the more you think (focus) on your fears, the most powerful they get.

So how can you overcome your fears? We like to keep things simple so we will concentrate on two (2) ways to overcome your fears.

1. Your focus

2. Taking action

Let's start with #1- "your focus" -- this week we have been discussing issues that deal with your mind, and yesterday we talked about "guarding your focus" and we talked about not letting "negative thoughts" get settled in your mind.

It is extremely important that you concentrate Your focus on what you want to accomplish.

This will accomplish two things --

1. it will stop feeding your fears and

2. it will redirect your energies towards your goals.

Now it is important that you get to step #2 and take some constructive action

You can call a friend for encouragement, you can read a motivational book, you can listen to empowering tapes, you can read your goals and expand on them, you can do research on your goal.

The key here is to get involved both mentally and physically -- these two steps taken together --push your fears to the side and propel you towards your goals.

Here is a great quote I want you to print and carry with you.

Consult not your fears, but your hopes and dreams.

Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential.

Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in

but with what it is still possible for you to do.

quote by Pope John XX111

Don't let life's setbacks keep you down. Focus on what is possible, not on the setbacks.

Setbacks will be the building blocks (experience) on which you will build your success.

The best way to overcome fear is by taking action.

Decide that next time your "old fears" start to creep in --- that you will not give them a place to grow---replace your fears by thinking of where you want to be (your goals) and taking the necessary steps to get there.

Until tomorrow, keep walking

Sometimes Things Go Wrong

Sometimes bad things happen to good people, or things just don’t turn out the way we expected.

Often when these things happen—we just don’t know what to do—what to think -- what to say or how to deal with the pain.

We can't explain why these unthinkable things happen to us --but they do happen --and we are left to pick up the pieces.

When bad or unexpected things have happened to me—-- I have turned to a higher power to carry me through the uncertain times and the pain.

I want to share with those of you that are hurting or feeling a sense of lost, some songs that reaches all the way down to the bottom of my soul--

-and put me in touch with my God.

In my times of weakness and pain, these songs remind me of where my true strength comes from.

It is my sincere hope that they will comfort you as you deal with the after effects of the tragic events at Fort Hood.

Word of God Speak

Hold Fast

Voice Of Truth

Praise You In This Storm

Because we are Humans—things will sometimes go wrong—Just remember that you are never alone.

Just reach out -- our prayers go out to you.

Until tomorrow, keep the faith.

You Are Not alone

When you feel alone and think no one understands you...just stop and listen. You are never alone.

Everywhere you look you will see the hand of God.

With men it is impossible;

but to God all things are possible.

Matthew 19:26

Look up towards the heavens, look down at the smallest thing you can see, smell the air, listen to the wind; God is there.

You need to quiet your mind. Replace .. worrying..with hope. Replace ..negativity.. with faith and empowerment.

Don’t fill up your mind with what you consider failures, with doubts, with hate [this will dis-empower you]... but rather .. fill your mind will possibilities [this will empower you].

Your life is important --- it matters -- the things you do will greatly impact other people.

Whether you think you can accomplish something or not.....you are right. So.....choose to think you can {by empowering yourself},

and then ask yourself ..how do I start….You have just taken that very important 1st step.

You cannot change the past -- but you can change the future by the actions you take today. It is crucial that you learn to forgive -- so that you can move forward.

Anger, hate, distrust with cause a heaviness in your heart and soul that will keep you reliving the past and dis-empower you.

"Learning to let go" frees you to move forward. You matter more than you realize --- reach out and talk to someone ---

Replace your hurt with -- hope, with faith, with love [all empowering emotions].

Until tomorrow, keep walking
